The Agency on 18th<\/sup> November,2025 took another significant step towards strengthening water supply infrastructure in Nakuru County following the signing of the contract for Lot II of the Lake Nakuru Biodiversity Conservation Project<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

led by Chief Executive Officer CPA Douglas Murei<\/strong> and witnessed by senior Agency officials, including Mr. William Sakuda, Manager \u2013 Supply Chain Management<\/strong>,
alongside other technical and procurement representatives, the contract
signing by the Agency, marked a key milestone in the implementation of
the multi-component project aimed at improving water security while
supporting environmental conservation around Lake Nakuru.<\/p>

Lot II<\/strong>, which will be implemented under CRVWWDA\u2019s
stewardship, focuses on major investments to expand and enhance Nakuru\u2019s
water supply network. The scope of works includes the drilling of twelve new boreholes<\/strong>, optimization of four existing wellfields<\/strong>, upgrading of the Mereroni River intake<\/strong>, and the construction of a 10,000 cubic metre water storage reservoir<\/strong>. In addition, the project will involve the installation of three transmission mains covering approximately 27 kilometres<\/strong>, significantly improving water conveyance capacity.<\/p>

Once completed, these interventions are expected to substantially
increase water production and enhance supply reliability for residents
of Nakuru and its surrounding areas. The project is designed to address
both current shortages and future demand arising from rapid urban growth
and population increase within the Nakuru metropolitan region.<\/p>

The Lake Nakuru Biodiversity Conservation Project is jointly financed by the Government of Kenya and KfW Development Bank<\/strong>,
reflecting a strong partnership in promoting sustainable water resource
development while safeguarding the Lake Nakuru ecosystem.<\/p>

The signing of the Lot II contract follows closely on the successful execution of the Lot I contract<\/strong> which focuses on the upgrade and expansion of the Njoro Wastewater Treatment Plant<\/strong>.
Together, the two project components form an integrated approach to
improving water supply and sanitation services, while supporting
biodiversity conservation efforts within the Lake Nakuru basin.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n
