Major Flagship Infrastructure
• Pesi Dam Water Project:
Scope: A 16-million-cubic-meter (MCM) capacity dam (60m height) with a 90km conveyance system.
Status: Preliminary designs are complete, and an inception report has been submitted to the Ministry. It is recommended for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) funding.
Impact: Planned to serve over 100,000 people in Nyandarua and Laikipia (Ndaragwa, Ol Joro Orok, Ol Kalou, and Laikipia East/West).
• Kahurura Dam (Nanyuki Bulk Water Supply):
Scope: A 2.9 MCM capacity dam with 240km of conveyance.
Status: Currently at the procurement of consultant stage, funded by USAID/GOK.
Impact: Designed to serve up to 120,000 people.
• Rumuruti Dam & Water Supply Project:
Status: Consultancy works for the water supply component are ongoing. The dam itself (0.87 MCM) is prioritized for PPP funding.
Impact: Targets 60,000 residents in Rumuruti town, the new county headquarters.
• Proposed Nanyuki Town Sewerage Project:
Scope: Improved urban sanitation system estimated at Ksh 3.4–3.9 Billion.
Status: The design stage is complete; ESIA and RAP reports are currently under review.
• Amaya Dam:
Status: Detailed designs are complete and the project is ready for implementation.
Impact: Planned to serve between 50,000 and 120,000 people across Laikipia, Baringo, and Samburu.

Future Planning & Presidential Directives
- Maa Community Directive: A presidential directive has initiated the planning for the desilting of 5 dams (Ilpolei, Musul, Ngabolo, Nempuan, and Ilmunichoi) and the drilling of 45 new boreholes across various wards.
- FY 2025/2026 Programme: 11 new projects are under procurement/design, including the Muwarak Primary School BH, Munanda Dam, and Mahua Primary School BH.
- National Urban Phase II: Proposed urban works include the Rumuruti Sewerage and Nanyuki Sewerage projects.
- Strategic Cluster Studies: Feasibility studies are identified for the Gatirima-Marmanet-Muthengera, Sipili-Olmoran, and Tigithi-Solio-Sirimon water supply clusters.
